This exhibition showcases “Meta,” meaning self-referential or self-reflective, which is a recurring theme for Marcelle van Bemmel’s artworks. Meanwhile, strolling through the exhibition, it desires to affect the viewers to become part of the self-reflective process within themselves and inspire the spectators to cultivate their own thinking. Van Bemmel’s artworks can be associated with the hypothesis of flowing in media, which can possibly create false or surreal images to its audience just like her imaginary creatures and performance art. 

Marcelle van Bemmel is a Dutch multidisciplinary artist mostly working with performance, landscape and installation art. She takes inspiration in what she calls indefinable material such as water, reflection, light, shadow, time and even emotion. Throughout the years, she persists such artistic value that seeks metaphor within artworks.
