The first Kunstavond of the year at WORM, Rotterdam was a special one. We combined it with a hybrid publication launch, turning the evening into something between a book presentation and a full-on Kunstavond gathering.
The publication concludes a series of workshops developed with support from Amarte Fonds, in collaboration with Goblin Feast, Wastewaves, Soupspoon, and Bolotsa Collective.
For this edition, the space was set up in interactive corners. There was a tea corner for massage instructions and slow conversations, an audio presentation with live mixing and political party narration forming in real time, and food installations hung throughout the venue.
If there’s one thing organizing this reminded me of, it’s that event planning is never “just” event planning. It’s moving between (sometimes confusing) platforms, aligning production and design, coordinating different teams, planning months ahead. A lot happens behind the scenes before a single door opens...
But it also felt like a small milestone for me personally, a reminder of how much I’ve learned within WORM and why positively surprising people with such a Kunstavond set-up matters a lot.
