As a Visitor & Community Engagement Assistant, I supported the delivery of "Walk the Talk", a fractal of De Grote Indonesië / The Great Indonesia Exhibition at De Nieuwe Kerk which is a powerful series of events exploring the intertwined histories and shared stories of Indonesia and the Netherlands.
My role focused on on-site coordination and logistics, making sure that public-facing programs ran smoothly and that visitors felt welcomed, informed, and encouraged to engage closely with the exhibition’s themes. I worked closely with the event crew to support the flow of activities, respond to visitor needs, and maintain an inclusive atmosphere throughout the events.
In addition to the exhibition programming, here I supported panel talks and community-focused events, contributing to outreach and coordination between cultural and institutional partners.
A central part of the experience was engaging with audiences around topics of history, diaspora, and shared heritage. It was a touching moment to witness various people convened through art, conversation, and reflection—creating space not only to look back at the past, but also to consider future collaboration.
These events were made possible through the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in The Hague, the Indonesia Nederland Society, the Indonesia Nederland Youth Society (INYS), and Indonesian Students Association in the Netherlands (PPI Belanda).
